MacOs X 10.7 codename Lion adalah sistem operasi terbaru dari apple yang diumumkan Oktober 2010 lalu. Sistem operasi yang masih dalam tahap developer review saat ini, banyak mengalami perubahan mendasar dalam hal user interface. Terinspirasi oleh kesuksesan sistem operasi yang dibenamkan kedalam iPhone dan iPad, iOS, Apple memasukan banyak unsur-unsur iOS kedalam LION. Hal yang menarik adalah usaha Apple dalam menyatukan pengalaman menggunakan iOS kedalam sistem operasi ke-8 ini. Pengalaman menggunakan iPAD memang menyenangkan, cepat, dan yang terpenting adalah user interface yang dibuat oleh Apple dalam iOS sangat mudah digunakan bahkan oleh anak kecil sekalipun. Kemudahan-kemudahan inilah yang memberikan ide bagi Apple untuk memasukan banyak unsur iOS ke dalam sistem operasi terbarunya ini.

LaunchPad

Rumah baru bagi semua aplikasi Mac, LaunchPad dapat diakses langsung dari dock. Saat menekan tombol Launchpad, semua jendela yang terbuka akan menghilang perlahan-lahan digantikan oleh sebuah display fullscreen dari semua aplikasi yang ada di dalam Mac.

Full-Screen Apps

Di dalam iPad semua aplikasi akan terbuka secara penuh di layar, dalam LION hal tersebut juga diadopsi. Kita dapat membuat semua aplikasi full screen layaknya ipad, pergantian antar aplikasi dapat dilakukan dengan menyapukan jari kita di trackpad.

Mission Control

Ini adalah satu fitur menarik yang ada di LION. Dalam Mission Control, Dashboard, Full-Screen Apps, Desktop serta semua aplikasi yang berjalan ditampilkan dalam satu jendela dan dijadikan group, ini akan memudahkan pengguna melihat semua aktifitas yang berjalan dalam Mac.

AirDrop
Dengan AirDrop sharing file antar pengguna mac menjadi mudah, cukup menekan tombol airdrop maka mac secara otomatis akan mencari pengguna mac lainnya yang menggunakan airdrop dan file sharing pun dapat langsung digunakan tanpa perlu melakukan setting di dalam opsi file sharing.

Gestures and Animations
Penyempurnaan dari multitouch yang ada sebelumnya, dengan penambahan-penambahan efek-efek yang akan membuat semua kegiatan menggunakan trackpad muulitouch Apple terkesan nyata.

Auto Save
Saat mengerjakan suatu dokumen maka kita akan selalu melakukan fungsi simpan (save) secara manual malah kadang-kadang lupa untuk menyimpan dan hilanglah pekerjaan yang telah susah payah kita lakukan, dengan fitur otomatis simpan tidak perlu khawatir lupa menyimpan dokumen, karena semua itu akan otomatis dilakukan oleh auto save.

Versions
Version menyimpan semua perubahan yang dilakukan saat pertama kali membuka dan tiap jam saat membuat suatu dokumen. Fitur ini akan merekam semua perubahan-perubahan dalam dokumen yang dikerjakan, dan dapat kita lihat perubahan-perubahan apa saja yang terjadi dalam pembuatan dokumen kita.

Resume
Dengan resume kita tidak perlu lagi menutup satu-satu dokumen kita saat terjadi restart setelah software update misalnya atau setelah menginstall sebuah aplikasi yang memerlukan restart. Semua dokumen yang kita buka akan kembali lagi seperti posisi sebelum kita restart.

Dalam Professional Developer Conference 2008, Microsoft memperkenalkan generasi selanjutnya dari Windows Vista yaitu Windows 7. Berbagai fitur – fitur terbaru dari Windows 7, diperkenalkan Microsoft kepada para peserta PDC 2008 kemarin. Lalu, ada apa MakeMac membahas Windows 7 ? Kali ini, kita akan membahas berbagai keunikan dan kesamaan dari Windows 7 Pre-Beta ini dengan Mac OS X Leopard. Ingin tahu lebih lanjut, baca selanjutnya disini.

Seakan sebagai pertarungan klasik, Windows selalu dibanding – bandingkan dengan Mac OS karena dianggap memiliki berbagai kemiripan. Kamu bisa lihat sendiri dengan gambar disini. Pada Windows 7, “Aurora” yang ada itu seperti “Aurora” pada wallpaper Leopard. Perbedaannya hanya terletak pada skema warna dan tema dimana pada Windows 7 mengedepankan warna biru (terlihat seperti Aqua :wink: ) dan Leopard dengan warna violet untuk Client dan biru untuk Server.

Fitur Expose merupakan fitur andalan Mac OS X dimana para penggunanya memakai 3 macam shortcut pada keyboardnya yaitu All Windows, Application Windows, dan Show Desktop. Varian Baru Trojan Incar Mac OS X

Tampilan BlackHole Trojan yang mengincar OS X Mac
CALIFORNIA - SophosLabs dilaporkan telah mengidentifikasi varian modifikasi dari darkComet terkenal Remote Access Trojan (RAT) terkenal yang muncul untuk menargetkan komputer dengan sistem Mac OS X.

Meskipun blackhole RAT belum siap untuk penyebaran, Trojan jahat versi Mac OS X ini bisa menjadi indikasi programmer peningkatan virus produk Apple, yang selama ini terkenal sangat ketat terhadap serangan virus.

Dilansir melalui TG Daily, Senin (28/2/2011), Sophos Senior Security Advisor Chester Wisniewski, menjelaskan virus ini memiliki fungsi meliputi:

- Menempatkan file teks pada desktop.
- Mengirim shutdown, restart atau perintah 'Sleep'.
- Menjalankan perintah shell secara sewenang-wenang.
- Menempatkan jendela layar penuh dengan pesan yang hanya memungkinkan Anda untuk mengklik reboot.
- Mengirim URL untuk klien untuk membuka sebuah situs palsu untuk phish target.

"Saya Trojan Horse, jadi saya telah menginfeksi komputer Mac Anda. Saya tahu, kebanyakan orang berpikir Mac tidak bisa terinfeksi, tapi lihat, Anda ADALAH Terinfeksi!," demikian pesan yang muncul saat komputer Mac terkena virus ini.

Sebagai catatan Wisniewski, Trojan seperti blackhole RAT sering didistribusikan melalui download software bajakan dan situs torrent.

Mac OS X adalah versi terbaru dari sistem operasi Mac OS untuk komputer Macintosh. Sistem operasi ini pertama kali dikeluarkan pada tahun 2001 dan populer di kalangan pengguna.
Karakter "X" adalah nomor Romawi yang berarti sepuluh, di mana versi ini adalah penerus dari sistem operasi yang digunakan sebelumnya seperti Mac OS 8 dan Mac OS 9. Beberapa orang membacanya sebagai huruf "X" yang terdengar seperti "eks". Salah satu alasan mengapa mereka menafsir sedemikian karena tradisi untuk memberikan nama sistem operasi yang berbasis Unix dengan akhiran "x" (misalnya AIX, IRIX, Linux, Minix, Ultrix, Xenix).
Mac OS X Server juga dirilis pada tahun 2001. Pada dasarnya versi Server ini mirip dengan versi standardnya, dengan perbedaan bahwa versi Server mencakup piranti lunak untuk keperluan manajemen dan administrasi workgroup dalam komputer berskala besar. Contoh fitur tambahan yang tersedia untuk versi ini adalah piranti lunak untuk menjalankan fungsi-fungsi seperti SMTP, SMB, LDAP dan DNS. Selain itu cara melisensinya juga berbeda.
Mac OS X adalah sistem operasi yang menggunakan kernel BSD sehingga beberapa kalangan mengatakan bahwa Mac OS X termasuk dalam keluarga Unix. Hal yang menarik dari OS ini adalah keindahan tampilannya sehingga menjadikannya panutan bagi pengembang desktop lain.[rujukan?]
